#1 A good preparation
Ask if the parent can send the lesson materials in advance via the chat in the app. For example, by taking photos of the books or notebooks. Have they received online documents from the school? If so, ask if the parents can forward these documents.

#2 No Distractions
Ask the parents if the children can sit in a quiet spot in the house. Preferably with headphones on or earbuds in. This way they can work concentrated and are not distracted by, for example, phone calls in the background.

#3 Agree on a clear structure
At school, children do not work for 3 hours straight, so do not do so in online homeschooling either. Therefore, clearly agree on the structure at the beginning. For example, do math for 1 hour, then watch the youth news for a quarter of an hour, and then do geography for another half hour. This way, you create a nice break between schoolwork.

#4 Let the children work independently
Make sure that the children also do their schoolwork independently; you don’t always have to help. Therefore, create a good balance between doing schoolwork together and doing exercises independently. Are the children doing exercises independently? Stay on the line for any questions.

#5 See what the children see
Call via a program that allows you to share a screen, such as Google Hangouts. This way, you can see exactly what the child sees. Also use programs where you can watch live, like Google Slides or Google Docs. This way, you can follow what the children are doing and review the assignments.
