With Babysitting Angels now active in 7 cities, it’s time to introduce an Angel Recruiter: Meet Laurence! Having started out as a Babysitting Angel herself in The Hague, with years of babysitting experience, she now meets every future Babysitting Angel in Eindhoven. Curious how she likes it? Read on.

As a child, she was definitely not a “Barbie girl,” but rather an endless adventurer! While other girls in her class were playing with dolls, Laurence asked for a cool blue mountain bike for her birthday. She grew up in Nuenen, near Eindhoven, and moved to The Hague after finishing high school. There, she quickly got to know Charly Cares; in between studying, she babysat for the loveliest families. After three years, she decided to move back to her hometown of Eindhoven, concluding: “Pff… studying really isn’t for me.”

Working with children was much more her calling! From the age of 12, she babysat the neighbors’ children—and she loved it! Playing the piano together, doing crafts, and cooking delicious meals were activities both she and the kids thoroughly enjoyed.

A first impression is very important to me. From the very first moment, I usually know whether someone is suitable to work at Charly Cares. After that, I ask about their babysitting experience. Girls who immediately light up when sharing fun babysitting stories truly have a passion for it.

It’s a combination of first impression, spontaneity, passion for working with children, and babysitting experience—all essential! I always compare it to the idea that this is likely how he or she will behave in families’ homes.
